The goal of this project is to put into operation the Social Statistical Information System in Aruba and to implement a Population and Housing Census.

The Social Statistical Information System will be fed with data derived from surveys and administrative sources and is expected to yield various policy indicators that are in line with other indicators provided by the Tourism Satellite Account (TSA) and the National Accounts as the harmonisation of definitions and methodologies is guaranteed. In view of the degree to which administrative databases are incomplete and have become polluted with outdated information over time, and the lack of administrative data relating to certain themes, it is necessary to hold a population and housing census every ten years, as recommended by the United Nations. A second output of this project will be the implementation of the Population and Housing Census of 2010 which is to feed the Social Statistical Information System.
