That combination makes it possible for her to apply the results of fundamental research in mental healthcare, and vice versa. Her “unusual” decision to investigate differences and similarities between ADHD and autism has now become the standard approach in the research on these developmental disorders. Her investigation of ageing and autism is also generating a great deal of interest in international circles. She and her colleagues are working together to develop interventions for people with autism.
