From 1994-2003 she was researcher at the Department of Public Health, Erasmus MC Rotterdam. In June 2003 she defended her thesis entitled "Mathematical modelling in evaluation of screening for breast and cervical cancer". From 2002-2008 she worked at TNO Quality of Life, Leiden. Since June 2008 she is senior researcher at the Department of Medical Decision Making of the University Medical Center in Leiden. She is involved in economic evaluations in different fields, such as cancer, child health, primary care, obstetrics, infectious diseases, and neurological disorders. Furthermore, she initiates and supervises methodological studies in the field of health technology assessment.
