Claes de Vreese (1974) is sinds 2005 hoogleraar Communicatiewetenschap aan de UvA.
As a PhD student, he made one of the first and one of the most complex quantum calculations ever, a feat which attracted a great deal of attention in the media. He currently works on a technology that has the potential for scaling up quantum computers to useful sizes. In a second line of research, he investigates the electronic properties of a single atomic layer of carbon. He has published seven articles in the leading scientific magazines Nature and Science.
