The Quality of Life

Ingrid Robeyns, professor of practical philosophy Erasmus University Rotterdam, interviews Nobel Prizewinner Amartya Sen about the quality of life.

On 8 June 2010 NWO Humanities held its first annual GeestesdaG to discuss current issues and new research. This year's theme was: The Quality of Life, a subject very much in the public interest today. Part of the programme was an interview by Ingrid Robeyns, member of De Jonge Akademie, with Nobel Prizewinner Amartya Sen. They talked about interdisciplinary scientific research on the subject of the quality of life and standard of living and why this subject is so relevant these days. Amartya Sen received the 1998 Nobel Prize in economics for his theoretical work on ethical aspects of the economy and his battle against poverty in the world.
